MARCIA CROSS: Marcia Cross is currently in production on the second season of smash hit Desperate Housewives. In 2005 she was nominated for both a Golden Globe Award in the Best Actress category and an Emmy Award in the Best Actress in a Comedy Series category. Prior to her role on Desperate Housewives, Cross starred as Dr. Linda Abbott on The WB's critically-acclaimed series, Everwood. She is also well known for her role as Dr. Kimberly Shaw on the hit drama Melrose Place. Born and raised in Marlborough, Massachusetts, Cross was determined to become an actress from the moment she performed in her first school play, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, in the sixth grade. At the age of 18 she was accepted at the Juilliard School as a Drama major. On stage Cross performed in La Ronde at the Williamstown Theater Festival, in Twelfth Night at the Hartford Stage Company, and in Two Gentlemen of Verona at the Old Globe in San Diego. Her first television job was on the daytime drama The Edge of Night. Leaving New York to try her luck in Los Angeles, Cross was soon landing roles in television movies such as The Last Days of Frank and Jessie James, co-starring with Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Her memorable role on Melrose Place began when she was hired for one episode. The producers were so impressed, they kept asking her back for additional appearances, eventually bringing her character back from the dead to continue on the hit show.

Widely considered to be the first Mexican actress to become a Hollywood movie star since Dolores Del Rio, Salma Hayek is known for bringing a fiery presence and striking, dark-eyed beauty to the screen. A soap star in her native Mexico, Hayek risked her entire career to come to L.A., where she struggled to be taken seriously. Her discovery by director Robert Rodriguez, who cast her in his 1995 film Desperado, gave Hayek her breakthrough, and she subsequently gained a reputation as one of Hollywood's sexiest and busiest actresses. The daughter of a Spanish mother and Lebanese father, Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, on September 2, 1966. Raised in a devoutly Catholic family, she was sent to a Louisiana boarding school at the age of 12. After getting into trouble for terrorizing the nuns, Hayek returned to Mexico, but she was eventually sent to Houston, Texas, to live with her aunt, where she stayed until she was 17. She subsequently moved to Mexico City, where she studied International Relations as a university student, but, to the chagrin of her family, decided to drop out in order to pursue a career as an actress. Starting out in local theatre productions, she eventually moved to television and landed a starring role in the popular soap opera Teresa. The show's success made Hayek a celebrity in her native country, but, desiring something more, she shocked her fans by deciding to quit the show in order to pursue a career in L.A.After taking a year to learn English and study acting with Stella Adler, Hayek got her first break when Allison Anders cast her in a supporting role in Mi Vida Loca (1993). The role allowed Hayek to obtain a Screen Actors Guild card, and after doing so, she continued to audition until she appeared on a Spanish-language cable access talk show that happened to count director Robert Rodriguez amongst its viewers. Rodriguez tracked Hayek down and promptly cast her in Desperado, his bigger-budget 1995 sequel to El Mariachi. The film, which also starred Antonio Banderas, succeeded in giving the actress her own plot on the Hollywood map, and Rodriguez again demonstrated his faith in her when he cast her in his next project, the vampire extravaganza From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). Unfortunately for Hayek, the film, which also starred George Clooney, failed to do as well as expected, and Hayek's next few projects were similarly lackluster. The Faculty (1998), a teen thriller that cast Hayek as a teacher who turns into an alien, was an exception, and Kevin Smith's Dogma (1999), which featured her as a celestial muse, was fairly successful with critics and audiences. Also in 1999, Hayek had a starring role in what was to be her biggest film to date, Barry Sonnenfeld's Wild Wild West, which also starred Will Smith and Kevin Kline. Unfortunately for all involved, the film was a turkey. In 2000, Hayek could be seen in smaller, edgier ventures, including the independent comedy Chain of Fools, in which she played a centerfold-turned- cop, and Mike Figgis' experimental Time Code, which cast her as Jeanne Tripplehorn's lover. If these films ultimately didn't provide Hayek with a role that would draw attention to her genuine talent, this would soon change with the long awaited /biography of tragic artist Frida Kahlo. With her role as the epnoymous character in Frida (2002), Hayek disappeared into her subject so convincingly that not only would she return to the good graces of critics, but earn an Oscar nomination as well. If you were to ask those who know me, to describe me.. well I guess the common reaction would be for them to stop what they're doing, widen their eyes and say:
“She never stops, she’s got that passion, and that discipline, and she just keeps on going!…and her competitive edge…watch out cause here she comes!”
Well, I guess they’re right.. the journey, my journey, never ends. In whatever it is that I am doing, however the task or goal reincarnates, my passion and discipline exceeds all obstacles. I think I was just born with it because I felt it at such a young age, and that is why my journey started at such a young age.
My gymnastics career started at age 6. I would jump off swing sets, diving boards and anything else I could giving my parents a heart attack. I was FEARLESS!
Well my fearless passion created a 12-year gymnastics career with a well–know coach who was based out of Romania…and for anyone who asks, “How did you get those abs?” Well, hands down I give credit to my coach who started me doing up to 1000 ab exercises a day at 7 years old. The best conditioning ever that worked every muscle in my body, was through gymnastics. Anyone who is or was a competitive gymnast, knows exactly what I am talking about. You train muscles you never new existed.
From gymnastics, grew my passion for dance, considering dance is an integral part of gymnastics and the routining; and on top of that, in school I was also competitive in Volleyball, Track and Field, was Captain of the Cheerleading team and continued working out at the gym.

Once retiring from gymnastics at the age of 18, (yes so young but so old for a competitive gymnast) my journey and passions where still burning, so I continued with dance, in hip hop and jazz and then was introduced to Salsa dancing and Latin ballroom dancing. Well my on going hunger for Salsa dancing, led me to become a Professional Salsa Dancer, and a Member/Instructor, of Strickly Salsa Dance Company based in Toronto, Ontario in which our team competed and performed within Canada and Internationally including the World Salsa Congress in Puerto Rico, New York and Los Angeles and Montreal. I guess you can start to see the trend for yourselves, when people say I never stop. I don’t know what it is, but it's in my blood! ...that feeling, that passion, it nourishes my soul, especially when I am on stage... here I come!
And now in my journey, my unstoppable fitness accomplishments have lead me to “explode” into this wonderful world of HEALTH & FITNESS! I am National Level Figure Competitor, placing 7th at this years 2006 Canadian Nationals and 3rd at the Ontario Figure Provincials. My other placings include: 1st in the IFBB Ontario National Qualifier in 2004, and 2nd at the National World Qualifier, 6th in the FAME Pro Figure Series in 2005, which immediately called for mass media recognition with many features including TSN, CablePulse 24, Rogers TV, Muscular Development, Oxygen Magazine, Pure Power Magazine and other various print ads!
Fitness is a lifestyle for me; it’s how I live…and whether you know me or not, my mission is to infect you with my passion.
…So anyway “Welcome to a taste of my world,” for those of you who know me, thanks for supporting me and for those of you new to my world, jump in, absorb my life, my passions, my commitments and my experiences through dance and fitness and whatever else God throws at me…
